City@6: Shami Chakrabarti

Screenshot of Zoom call

Chakrabarti used her speech to pose a challenge to all CLSG students listening: what if their generation seized post-pandemic life as an opportunity to shape the world, much like the 1945 generation did post-war? As necessary temporary restrictions on civil liberties recede, for instance, she imagined we might learn to treasure and protect hard-won rights and freedoms we had previously taken for granted. You can watch her hopeful vision in full here.

Next in the City@6 schedule is a Q&A with Lucy Moss, the creator of Six the Musical (a reimagining of Tudor history in which Henry VIII's wives sing their own stories) on 10 May.
