During the summer holidays, a group of GCSE and A level Chinese students embarked on a journey across the world to Shenzhen University to attend their annual summer camp. Despite a tumultuous start, where all our luggage was left behind at Heathrow Airport, and the fickle weather, the trip was unforgettable. Along with morning lessons, where we could practise our language skills, we also participated in cultural activities, from a martial arts lesson, to traditional art classes covering painting and paper cutting, as well as a tea ceremony. Overall, we really enjoyed the opportunity of such a unique experience to explore Chinese culture, language and daily life first-hand.
