Bright Young Things – year 8’s drama performance

Year 8 students performing 'Bright Young Things'

Directed by drama teacher Michelle Mapstone, Bright Young Things was the recent year 8 play. Telling the story of six young people who are competing in a battle to become Britain’s Brightest Child, it is a funny, fast paced play about identity, truth and self-discovery. Being part of the show taught year 8 students a lot about stage etiquette and character work, as well as enabling them to meet other students with a love for acting, whilst also improving their own acting skills and boosting their confidence.
Our year 8s commented that involvement in the show helped them to become more aware of the range of roles that contribute to a drama production, from set design to hair and makeup.
