Battlefields trip

Battlefields trip

Last Thursday, year 9 set off bright and early for France and Belgium. We first visited Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, and then went on to visit German cemetery, Langemarck, and a reconstructed German trench. We finished up in Ypres for supper, and chocolate shopping! The next day, we headed to Sunken Lane, Hawthorn Ridge Crater, and other sites in France. We also visited Newfoundland Memorial Park, where we saw British trenches. It was really powerful to see the sites where the events we learn about in history actually happened.
