Both the junior choir and the junior orchestra put in excellent debut performances at our school concert last week.
Not to be outdone, our senior ensembles also rose to the challenge with an exciting relaunch, with our string players producing sophisticated and stylish offerings. Both the newly-formed senior wind quintet and the string octet displayed wonderful examples of musical communication and co-operation with Haydn's Divertimento and Mendelssohn's Octet, respectively. Our Young Musician competition winners gave us a wide variety of individual items from Chopin's Nocturne to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats classic, 'Memories'. The closing performance of by the senior orchestra, who played music from the 'Lord of the Dance', meanwhile, was energetic, accomplished, and extremely well received by the audience.
