Author Jennifer Claessen gave a lively and interactive talk to our year 7 and 8 students, explaining the process of creating her latest book, Netta Becker and the Timeline Crime. She ended her visit with an insightful Q&A, calling students to share the stage with her, and answering their questions ranging from her previous books (based on Arthurian legend) through her career as a writer to her future writing projects. Her advice to our budding authors was to work on multiple stories at once, to freely borrow and remake existing characters, as she has in her reworking of myth, to discuss their work with friends and family, and to read as widely and voraciously as possible!
