Members of the APP took part in a workshop focusing on emotional and physical wellbeing before a performance. We shared and compared our methods of getting into a pre-performance mindset, discussing the benefits and disadvantages of performance anxiety and how to find a productive emotional balance. We then practiced breathing exercises and stretches that can aid the mind and body prior to performance. Following this, we had an informative talk about schedules, finding time for their passions, sleep and nutrition, before discussing its momentous effect on performance. We then ended the session by considering our inner qualities, thinking about how to successfully self-mentor. Overall, the workshop was an incredible opportunity to reflect on how to care for ourselves in order to promote the optimal performance mindset.
