Analysts competition

Year 12 students taking part in the analysts competition

A group of year 12 chemistry students took part in the Schools’ Analyst Competition. In groups of three, we conducted three different experiments that required us to apply and extend our A level chemistry knowledge. We investigated three different food products to see whether their labelling was accurate, using analyst methods such as titrations and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). We will soon submit our results in the hope that a City team will win a prize. It was exciting to use our chemistry knowledge and apply it to practical situations and was a very fun day overall.
