A group of A level Spanish students headed to Sadler’s Wells on 24th April to see Paco Peña’s latest show ‘Solera’. The flamenco production consisted of two halves, the first more informal in comparison to the dramatic second. However, both were equally impactful in presenting flamenco’s versatility. Originally from Andalusia, the Spanish region flamenco is most associated with, Paco Peña is a renowned flamenco guitarist whose fast-paced playing was entrancing. Solos performed by the percussionist and the ‘bailores’ (flamenco dancers) were also highly impressive and overall it was a memorable performance, which ended with a well-deserved standing ovation! - Arianna, year 12
