Allons-y à Lyon!

Sixth form students visiting Lyon

In October half term year 12 and 13 students went to Lyon with the French department. It was an amazing opportunity to practise our French skills in real life situations. Each student was assigned a host family, with whom we ate dinner every day, speaking exclusively in French and eating traditional meals like ratatouille. On the first day, my friend and I audaciously thought we had explored the whole city after walking for 8 hours. Unsurprisingly, we were quickly proven wrong. Throughout the week we would see everything from historic monuments and cathedrals to a park with three giraffes in it! We also attended language school every morning passing fountains, murals, museums and crossing a river on the way there! If there is any reason to take French A- level, it is to go on this trip. My French class and I will certainly be back one day!
