We visited the Wiener Library to participate in a poetry translation workshop with CLS. We studied a series of translated poems written by Sonja Jaslowitz, who sewed her poems together into a small cloth-bound book before being deported from her home in Czernowitz to a concentration camp in Transnistria. The day was incredibly informative, raising the debate of faithfulness to translation over clarity. Sophie and Ed (year 11) then performed a beautiful flute and voice duet to a poem composed by Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger.
