A numbers game

Over the last term our mathematicians (Anne and Katharine in year 13, Ines in year12 and Naoko, Anaira and Tianer in year 11) have been competing in the Hans Woyda inter-school competition, a tense, against-the-clock head-to-head where students have around 60 seconds to answer complex maths problems.

We won comfortably 31-19 against Westminster City in round 1 and 37-11 against Channing in round 3. Round 2 against the boys' school was more tightly contested: we were in the lead until the team round and then neck and neck for the next two rounds. It all came down to the final question, where a member of their team just managed to pip us to the post in the race round.

The final score was 42-40 to CLS, but we are still through to the plate knockout competition next term. Congratulations – and good luck!
