A fishing success

Group photo of students at fishing competition

Our fishing team participated in the annual Thames Fishery Research Experiment. Since 1973, the experiment has brought together communities of anglers to compete on the shores of the River Thames in Gravesend.  The number, size and species of fish caught are recorded to monitor the biodiversity and health of the river over time. Results show a correlation between a clean river and the diversity of species found in it.  With great patience and persistence, our team prevailed, as Selvi (year 13) hooked the deciding catch, bringing back three awards to City!
