Holocaust memorial day

Students in a Holocaust Memorial Day assembly

In a whole school assembly, we reflected upon the atrocities of the Holocaust. Following on from these reflections, our year 9s took part in a range of activities focused on the theme of understanding the Holocaust. The workshop culminated in a moving testimony given by a Holocaust survivor, Jackie Young, who told us his story of discovering his past. Jackie lived in the infamous Terezin camp until he was two and a half years old, before being liberated in 1945 and sent to England where he was adopted. His moving talk about his journey to finding the missing pieces of his past allowed us to honour the memory of those whose lives were lost and take forward the lessons taught by those who survived.
