City of London School for Girls is a selective, independent day school in the heart of the City. Girls come to us from all over London. It is a unique learning environment, and we are delighted that you are considering joining us.

We aim to make the admissions process as seamless and transparent as possible. This section of our website will reflect the most up-to-date information and dates for entry in the coming academic year. If you have any questions, please contact our admissions team at

Occasional places

Sometimes we have places available for students to join us at the beginning of years 8 or 9, rather than at our standard intake points.

If these places become available, we invite interested parents to register their child. We then conduct assessments in English and maths, and in addition applicants sit a general paper. Year 9 applicants may also have a modern foreign language assessment.  These places are rare, and we are unlikely to know whether places are available until the spring term before the September entry point.

We do not accept pupils mid-way through the academic year, nor in years 10, 11 or 13.

We regret we are unable to offer scholarships and bursaries for non-standard entry points.

All occasional places for September 2024 have now been filled.  The form to register interest in a September 2025 place will open in the autumn term.
