Admissions

City of London School for Girls is a selective, independent day school in the heart of the City. Girls come to us from all over London. It is a unique learning environment, and we are delighted that you are considering joining us.

We aim to make the admissions process as seamless and transparent as possible. This section of our website will reflect the most up-to-date information and dates for entry in the coming academic year. If you have any questions, please contact our admissions team at admissions@clsg.org.uk.

Occasional places

Sometimes we have places available for students to join us at times other than our standard intake points.

Places occasionally become available for entry into years 8 and 9. Please note that we do not accept new pupils into years 10, 11 or 13.

Occasional places are rare in year 8, but we are likely to have year 9 places.  This is becoming a more standard entry point as we seek to increase the year group by at least five pupils. The admissions process takes place in the spring term before the September entry point, once we know how many places are available.  First we will invite interested parents to register their child. We then conduct assessments - in English and maths, and there is also a general paper.  Candidates who are successful in the assessments are then interviewed. Offers of places are made before the end of the spring term.

We regret that we are unable to offer scholarships and bursaries for non-standard entry points.

Applications are now closed for entry in September 2026.

If you are looking for an occasional place in years 8 or 9 for September 2027, we will open an expression of interest form in the autumn term.
