typical day
My name is Charlotte and I have been a City girl since I was seven years old. I am now in Year 8, and obviously things have changed since I started but I still enjoying coming here. There is no ‘typical day’ because every day is so different.
Registration takes place at 8:40 am and this is not just to check we are in, our teacher talks to us and makes sure we are dealing well with our work, and our feeling confident about the day ahead. We then have assembly which is sometimes taken by teachers, but often it is taken by students telling us about recent trips they have been on or fundraising activities organised.
We have two lessons before break. In Year 8 we have eighteen subjects to study which revolve around a two week timetable. After break we have another three lessons before lunch. I really enjoy my lessons, some subjects I find easy, whereas others I find challenging. However I find that if there is anything that I do not understand my teachers will be happy to explain it to me or to find me a mentor from an older Year group to go through certain areas I did not fully understand in class.
We have one hour for our lunch break during which there are lots of extra-curricular activities available. Clubs include sport, language, debating, drama, art and science to name but a few, there is something for everyone. It is up to each girl whether she wishes to take part in a club(s) or not. After lunch on Thursdays, I have a Rounders practice. This is for half of the lunch time and starts at 1:20 pm.
After afternoon registration we have our final three lessons of the day. We generally have at least one language a day, and at the beginning of Year 7 we must chose two languages to study from Spanish, French, German and Mandarin. I chose Mandarin and German which I very much enjoy learning. Our teachers make the subjects really interesting, and we normally have four pieces of homework each night.
After school ends there are various extra-curricular activities. As I enjoy sport, I attend gym club on Monday evenings. I enjoy this very much and always look forward to it. When this is over I go home and get ready for the next adventure at school tomorrow.
