physical education

Sport is an integral part of life at all levels of the school.
We pride ourselves on the fact that there should be something for everyone, from team players aiming for excellence to clubs which play the odd fixture to recreational activites such as climbing. We believe in a philosophy of 'Sport for All' and enjoyment plays a large part in this too. Within the curriculum we aim to give girls a progressive programme which unfolds each year providing new challenges and an experience of different sports.
For more information on sporting teams visit the Extra- Curricular page.

WHY IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXCITING AT CLSG?

We are proud of what we offer the pupils and the standards we achieve. We are proud also of the initiatives the girls themselves come up with and try to implement these too. We hope we can instill a love for sport and give pupils the confidence to try anything. 'Have a go' is our motto, you never know what you can achieve.

We have excellent sporting facilities on-site, including netball and tennis courts, an all weather pitch, a fully-equipped fitness room and a heated swimming pool. We also have the use of the extensive Honourable Artillery Company playing fields for our Sports Day, both of which are a short and easy walk from the school. We believe at the end of their time with us girls leave with the skills to carry on their sports, to try new ones and to follow a healthy lifestyle.

An annual trip to Devon takes place for pupils in Year 7 and 8  to experience adventurous activities such as surfing, kayaking and climbing. The occasional Sports Tour takes place, the most recent being to Malta.
