Sport is an integral part of life at all levels of the school.
We pride ourselves on the fact that there should be something for everyone, from team players aiming for excellence to clubs which play the odd fixture to recreational activites such as climbing. We believe in a philosophy of 'Sport for All' and enjoyment plays a large part in this too. Within the curriculum we aim to give girls a progressive programme which unfolds each year providing new challenges and an experience of different sports.

WHY IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXCITING AT CLSG?
We are proud of what we offer the pupils and the standards we achieve. We are pround also of the initiatives the girls themseleves come up with and try to implement these too. We hope we can instil a love for sport and give pupils the confidence to try anything. 'Have a go' is our motto, you never know what you can achieve.
We have excellent sporting facilities on-site, including netball and tennis courts, an all weather pitch, a fully-equipped fitness room and a heated swimming pool. We also have the use of the extensive Honourable Artillery Company playing fields for our Sports Day, both of which are a short and easy walk from the school. We believe at the end of their time with us girls leave with the skills to carry on their sports, to try new ones and to follow a healthy lifestyle.
In Year 7 girls cover netball, gymnastics, dance, swimming, rounders and tennis. By Year 11 girls have covered hockey, water polo, synchronised swimming, lifesaving, volleyball, basketball, health related fitness and use of the fitness room, aerobics, athletics, trampolining, tag rugby, football, cricket and badminton.
In the SIxth Form girls have a choice of sports they may wish to pursue and external teachers offer Zumba, Yoga and Pilates.
RECENT TRIPS / LEARNING ACTIVITIES
A number of experiences are offered when they arise, such as taking groups to see Olympic and Paralympic events last Summer, International Netball at the O2 Arena, Tennis at Wimbledon and PE conferences. An annual trip to Devon takes place for pupils in Year 7 and 8 to experience adventurous activites such as surfing, kayaking and climbing. The occasional Sports Tour takes place, the most recent being to Malta.
We also invite outside dance companies to come in and take workshops for the pupils in the Prep School and the Senior School.
All this in addition to a full and broad extra curricular programme.
