We Need Your Help

Until 1997, the government’s Assisted Places Scheme funded around 20% of City girls’ education. Sadly, since its abolition, many gifted young girls were unable to accept places at City as their families could not afford to send them here.

This year we had more girls passing the entrance exam and qualifying for financial assistance than ever before. Although we were able to offer bursaries to some of these girls, there were some girls who were unable to take up their place because of financial need. We want to ensure that we are able to offer City’s vast range of educational opportunities to those girls who will benefit most from learning here, not just those who can afford the fees.

“Although my parents have always done their best for me, our circumstances meant that I would not have been able to attend a school such as City of London School for Girls without financial support. Through the outstanding teaching and ethos at CLSG, I have benefited greatly from attending a school that not only motivates all of us pupils to do our best academically but also encourages each student to discover and develop their individual talents and interests. Personally, I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in sport, debating, school trips and theatre productions – all of the highest standard – whilst attaining excellent results. I will never forget the amazing experience I’ve had here and will always appreciate the fantastic
opportunities I’ve been privileged to enjoy.” City girl, 17 years old.

“City provides you with so many opportunities to enrich all aspects of your life, both academic and otherwise. It’s because of people like you that I have been given this chance and I am so grateful for this.” City girl, 17 years old.

Your Gift

Whatever you can afford to give will be greatly appreciated and will contribute to the school’s bursary fund. We are delighted that donors can take advantage of two mechanisms to increase the value of their gift: Gift Aid and Match Funding.

As the City of London School for Girls Bursary Fund is a charity (number 276251) we can reclaim tax on any gift donated by a taxpayer and your gift will be increased by nearly a third. Just complete the Gift Aid Declaration box on the donation form (there is no additional cost to you in making a Gift Aid declaration). If this is not enough of a bonus, in addition, the City of London Corporation has agreed to match your gift, pound for pound. We hope that this will provide greater incentive to make a donation today.

If you would like to donate to the Bursary Fund please complete the donation form and gift aid section if relevant and return your gift to:
