City girls achieve record number of A* GCSE grades

Following record breaking A-level results, our students have smashed another school record, with 79.8 per cent of GCSE entries graded A*. This represents an average of eight A* grades per student and an overall increase of 1.4 per cent on last year’s results, reflecting the students’ hard work and determination. 97 per cent of entries were graded A* to A, and 90 of the cohort achieved nine or more A* to A grades.

CLSG is also celebrating many individual successes, with two students receiving 12 A*s and a further 12 students achieving 11 A* grades. Once again, students have excelled in STEM subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, DT Product Design and Computer Science). 94% of entries in those subjects were graded A* or A.

Students have excelled in subjects as varied as computer science and Greek (Classical), where an impressive 100 per cent of students achieved A* grades. Other successes include 100% A*-A grades in Art, English Language, English Literature, History and Spanish.

Headmistress, Ena Harrop said: “We are delighted with our GCSE results this year, which represent an all-time record in terms of A* grades. I am thrilled to see that the pupils’ efforts over the last two years have led them to such fantastic results. Such results will give them the best starting point for their Sixth Form studies and therefore, they should feel not just proud but full of confidence!”
