The end of year is an emotional experience, especially for girls in the Upper Sixth, for whom it marks the end of their days at City. The warmth and affection they have for the school, their teachers and their friends shows clearly in their end of year celebrations.
The majority of girls will continue their studies at university, art college or music conservatoire level, amongst which Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, Nottingham, Manchester and Edinburgh prove popular destinations. Many defer university and take a gap year to travel, study or work abroad.
Past students include: Katharine Dyson (D'Oyly Carte Opera), Sister Dorothy Bell (AIDS compaigner), Elizabeth Emanuel (Fashion Designer), Anne Farrell (actress), Tanya Seghatchian (Producer), Romola Garai (actress), Claire Rayner (author), Dinah Rose (QC), Sarah Hashemi (entrepreneur and Coffee Republic Founder), Sophie Winkleman (actress), Professor Georgina Mace, and Claudia Winkleman (TV presenter), Dido (singer).
